Alia Bhatt Wants To Essay Nazia Hassan On The Big Screen
From Pan Singh Tomar to Mary Kom to the latest blockbuster Neerja, Bollywood’s affair with biopics is strong as ever. Actors nowadays prefer to play strong characters based on real life stories because it allows them a greater margin for performance.
Where Ranbir Kapoor has already started preparations for his next biopic on Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt on the other hand, has shown a strong interest in playing the role of our very own pop sensation, the late Nazia Hassan.
According to a popular daily, when asked about whom she would like to play on the big screen (based on real-life), Alia said, “I think a biopic on Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan would be great.” Alia believes the role is best suited to her because, “after all, I also love singing and her life story is amazing,” she added.
Alia also revealed that she’s already done her homework on Nazia’s life. “She was really young and we lost her at a very early age. She has an interesting life story which can make a good film on celluloid. So, in that sense, yes this would be one biopic I would love to do,” she reasons. Incidentally, Alia’s debut film, Student of the Year had a reprised version of Nazia’s popular number and Alia knows about it. “One of her first songs was there in my first film – ‘Disco Deewane’. I’ve heard a lot about her recently. It’s interesting how she did this particular song and it came into play.”
Nazia has created such a void in the pop industry that since her demise, Pakistan has not had an audio legend as big as her. Will Alia Bhatt be able to match up to her charisma? Let’s wait and watch.
